My Sunday, Actually

For a very long time, Sundays have been a mythical place where all unrealized productivity lies.

The day is usually free of plans and commitments. Its openness makes it alluring.

“I’ll get to it on Sunday,” goes the thinking.

But my Sunday actually is already spoken for - it’s the day when I rest.

Forget the centuries of Sabbath doctrine: Sunday is my rest day regardless of religion.

The challenge for me is to stop imagining Sunday as a day of productivity and instead guard it as a day of deep rest.
