What’s Your Vision?

I’m a big believer in motivating a team through vision.

This requires painting a realistic picture of what is possible. It demands explicitly explaining how this new future will be better than the alternative if the current course is held.

See, people hate change.

They’ve been let down in the past, or they’ve seen a hyped improvement that failed to deliver.

You have to show them the vision.

And then you have to explain how you’ll achieve it.

Because without a detailed plan, a vision is just an aspiration.

Without a clear roadmap, your team will feel justified in their skepticism.
