Whatever Chaos Comes

I can’t stop thinking about this Jean Cocteau quote I read in this story on Emmanuel Macron’s risky decision to call snap elections:

“Since these mysteries overtake us, let’s pretend to be their organizer.”

What a delicious quote illustrating the desire to be in control even when situations steal these small victories away.

I would love to be in control of all aspects of my life, of my career.

But the truth is, there are other players who feel big by making me feel small.

And despite my attempts to stop it, whatever is going to happen, is going to happen.

So I sit back, observe, and try to make it seem like whatever chaos comes was my idea all along.
