Failure is Part of the Process

Every week, I write down a list of the things I want to get done.

Rarely do I ever succeed.

The day gets pulled towards other priorities, or when I do have a moment to myself I find myself depleted of all energy.

So I fail.

I don’t meet my self-imposed deadline. I push things back. I reformulate tasks so that they can be done quicker and mostly just as well.

Sometimes I feel bad about all this failing.

But failure is part of the process.

I learn tiny lessons each time I improvise a task to get it done quicker. Ideas that move further back on my calendar become more and more refined. I recognize patterns in my productivity cycles and learn to schedule around them.

It may look like failure, but every day I’m getting closer to my goal.
