Breaking Down Resistance

Overcoming resistance is often talked about as a hero’s journey. Blocks are triumphed over.

But I’ve witnessed how pain can break down resistance, too.

Not mental anguish.

Physical hurt.

The carefully constructed walls that empower our doubts can be razed by conquering those fears.

Or something can so powerfully pull our attention away that we forget about the doubt and the fear. Excruciating pain can pull focus that way.

Other things fall by the wayside when pain is afoot.

Kindness.

Consideration.

It’s not a pure blessing.

But in some ways, pain can be a blessing. Especially when it distracts us from the maintenance of our self-limiting illusions.
