Active Rest Day

I went to the gym today, fully expecting to complete a challenging leg workout.

Ten minutes into my warm up, though, it became clear that I lacked the energy to work out for close to an hour. I was out late watching the opening game of the 2024 European Football Championship the night before, and the lack of sleep had sapped my energy.

Normally, I would have a negative outlook on such a failure, but I immediately reframed my gym outing as an active rest day.

I decided to take a rest from heavy lifting, but I was not being lazy.

Productivity culture can sometimes make us feel bad about slow days. A mental reframe can do wonders by reminding you that things did get done, and rest will help to power through the heavy lifting days ahead.
