Perception vs. Product

It’s easy to envy someone who seems to be doing the thing you want to be doing.

Writing books.

Making art.

Starting companies.

But getting caught up in the perception of another person’s success can often blind you to the reality of the thing they’re producing.

Like whether or not it’s any good.

Rather than getting lost in the perception of someone else’s success, study their product.

If it’s good, figure out why, and start to emulate it.

And if it’s bad, stop wasting your time with envy.
