How to Be Self-Aware on the Internet

A few internet phrases that I find particularly humorous:

"I'm back on my bullshit"

"Read me for filth"

"I feel personally attacked"

They all allude to a self-deprecating self-awareness. The speaker of these phrases is in on the joke, the joke usually being some kind of personal failing or red flag.

My red flag is hiding behind perfectionism.

Claiming that my work isn't ready to see the world.

Assuming that I need more time to work on it.

Never, actually, finding the time to work on it. And then, at some arbitrary milestone like the end of the year or when I stumble upon someone else's work and feel a flash of envy, I claim that my lack of output is because of my pervasive perfectionism.

What about discipline, routine, hard-work?

Oooh, read me for filth!
