THE MORE THAT I TRAVEL, THE MORE I FIND MYSELF BUILDING TIME INTO EACH TRIP FOR REAL RELAXATION.
And there’s no better way to relax than with a visit to the spa.
Sure, I love an ambitious itinerary - the kind that makes use of every available moment in a destination - but I also appreciate taking some time for myself to just breathe and soak in the ambiance of wherever I am.
When you’re in Paris, it can be so easy to try and see everything that the city has to offer.
BUT WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THAT PARIS IS HOME TO SOME OF THE BEST HOTEL SPAS IN EUROPE?
Or that the French are more likely to rely on regular treatments like facials and massages for their wellbeing than, say, Botox or plastic surgery?
It’s true, and if you’d be wise to embrace their appreciation of wellness culture during your own time in the City of Lights.
Have I convinced you to add some “me time” to that itinerary yet?
If so, keep reading for my absolute favorite picks for rest and relaxation among Paris’s top hotels.

The Spa at La Réserve Paris

Ritz Club & Spa at The Ritz Paris
Rating: 9.6/10 | Location: 1st arrondissement, 1.9km from center | Full Property Details
THE RITZ PARIS IS SYNONYMOUS WITH GLAMOUR AND IMPECCABLE SERVICE.
Also notorious for its opulent design and historic legacy, the Ritz completed a four year, €400 million renovation in 2016.
The Ritz Club & Spa, as with the hotel itself, recently underwent a major renovation.
Though it’s no longer a Chanel-branded spa, the floral motifs remain throughout.
At the time of reopening, there was much fanfare about the debut of the only Chanel spa in the world, Chanel au Ritz Paris.
(Coco Chanel herself had lived at the Ritz for more than thirty years.)
BUT DESPITE THE FANFARE, IT WASN’T TO LAST.
In 2022, all exclusive products used at the spa were replaced by Biologique Recherche.
The floral-inspired treatments menu offers facials, body rituals, hand and foot care, and beauty and skin care.
The spa includes an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and fitness center, but confoundingly, access to these facilities does not extend to guests receiving spa treatments, less they pay a fee.
While gorgeous, the access policy seems a bit gauche, and though the Chanel camellias have now been joined by a host of other flowers, one has to wonder if they missed out on this spa’s best days.

Conclusion
THERE’S A WEALTH OF INDULGENT SPA OPTIONS IN PARIS — THE ONLY DISCOMFORT COMES FROM HAVING TO CHOOSE JUST ONE.
Each hotel spa has its own booking process.
Some have online systems that allow you to seamlessly book a desired treatment at the time that works best for you, while others require an email inquiry to book.
Either way, it’s best to book a spa treatment in Paris well in advance, so that you’re able to secure the precise treatment at the time that works for you.
BE SURE TO ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 - 60 MINUTES EARLY SO THAT YOU CAN ENJOY AMENITIES LIKE SAUNAS, POOLS, OR STEAM ROOMS.
These will help relax your muscles and enhance the benefits of your treatments.
Don’t be afraid to communicate with your technician about preferences like pressure levels or special areas of concern.
Drinking a lot of water both before and after a treatment is a must — it will help to flush out any toxins released from the treatment.
AND AFTER YOUR TREATMENT, UTILIZE THE RELAXATION ROOMS TO EXTEND THE EXPERIENCE AND SAVOR THE RESTORATIVE POWERS OF THE SPA.
Enjoy your spa day! 🧖

Angela
