Support Systems, Part Three

How do you build a support system for your business?

Using the roles from yesterday’s post, these are the Experts, Sausage Makers, and Role Players.

Folks who have expertise, brainstorming ability, and communication skills, respectively.

One tactic I plan to use is reconnecting with people in my network that I’ve fallen out of touch with. Part of the reason for these falling outs is due to the pandemic, and part of it is due to my move to Europe five and a half years ago. While I’m not sure what kind of cadence I can devote to these reconnecting calls, right now 1 to 2 a month seems reasonable.

A second approach is to identify people working on projects similar to mine who are living and working near me in Frankfurt. It’s good in theory but the how of identifying potential peers is a little hazy.

This two-pronged approach feels right; reaching back into the past while also accelerating future meetings by proactively seeking out interesting people.

Now the question of how to build a support system for your personal life, that I’ll save for another day…
