The Luckiest Day of the Year

If you believe in astrology, today is the luckiest day of the year.

I guess I sort of believe in astrology. But these superlative days always leave me feeling let down.

They portend unseen luck, abundance, and good fortune conspiring in our favor.

“Miracles are afoot.”

Observing something like the luckiest day of the year, though, feels like a fool’s errand.

Can we really see life’s miracles as they’re taking shape?

In my experience, miracles are only perceptible in retrospect.

Beyond that, I wrestle with the value of a single lucky day. It lasts twenty four hours, like all the others.

Rather than looking forward to a few lucky days, I strive to have the kind of life that feels fortunate and well-endowed, even on the bad days.
