Looks Good from the Street

My home improvement days continue, and today involved spray painting a faded, old, rickety porch railing.

I used black spray paint, in gloss, but I guess I’m not an expert at applying spray paint.

There were areas where it ran and formed large drips. Other spots where I applied it too close, and a rosebud shape formed. I told myself that I would sand away the imperfections tomorrow.

In short, it looked not so great up close.

But that’s the beauty of curb appeal. It only has to look good from the street.

The painted porch railing was dark, glossy black. All of its imperfections were imperceptible once I backed the car out of the driveway. All that was visible was the refreshed color.

It was an imperfect improvement, no next-day sanding required.
